Moulay Abeslam Cyber Park Marrakech

The Arsat Moulay Abdeslam Cyber Park is located approximately five minutes away from Riad Al-Bushra.

Mohammed Ben Abdellah al-Khatib was Sultan of Morocco from 1757 to 1790 and was also governor of Marrakech. He is primarily responsible for the current layout of Marrakech and in particular created garden spaces at the heart of various communities called "Arsats". These spaces were lavish and contained olive and citrus trees and formed a real centre piece for the community. During his reign he Muhammad established four estates within Marrakesh for each of his sons. These were the arsats of al-Mamoun, al-Hassan, Moussa and Abdelsalam.

Over time these Arsats have evolved. One currently forms the gardens of the Mamounia whilst the Arsat Abdesalam has evolved into the Arsat Moulay Abdeslam Cyber Park. This park now forms eight hectares of public park land on the main Mohamed V Avenue that links the Medina with the new town. The park has exotic planting and paths that meander through the gardens and lead the visitor to distinct areas where it is possible to relax and absorb local flowers and plants.

However, the Cyber Park is a real symbol of Marrakech being able to embrace the new and combine with the old. The Cyber Park contains internet terminals that inform the visitor about their surroundings. Unsurprisingly Morocco Telecom is a sponsor of the park and provides a small but informative museum of telephone technology at the entrance of the park. This traces the development of the phone from its first installation on Tangier in 1883 up to present day.

The park is a welcome retreat from the main city and worthy of a casual visit.
